What projects are we looking to support?
They are actions to protect, sustainably manage and restore natural and modified ecosystems that address societal challenges effectively and adaptively, simultaneously benefiting people and nature. (IUCN, 2016).
Indigenous peoples and local communities have been applying them for centuries. Now, we will work with them to extend them across borders.
Type of projects:
- Ecosystem restoration, conservation and protection.
- Sustainable and bird-friendly agriculture and aquaculture.
- Coastal management to promote climate resilience.
They are constructions compatible with the physical and behavioral needs of birds. For example: sufficient space to fly and perch; to serve as shelter from the weather and predators, comfortable ventilation and lighting, or to provide food and water.
Building with nature protects its natural capital.

- Water security (access to safe water, sanitation and irrigation).
- Infrastructure for clean energy generation.
- Integral solid waste management.
- Linear infrastructure: urban and rural roads; power distribution lines; pipelines; towers, telecommunication lines.
- Urban infrastructure: buildings, educational/health facilities, etc.
- Sustainable agriculture, livestock, fisheries and aquaculture.

Birds connect us across borders and sectoral silos
Nature has no borders and birds prove it with their epic journeys of thousands of kilometers that link territories of life.
Inspired by the magic of their migration, we will integrate landscapes, cultures and people from the Tundra to Tierra del Fuego.
Our initiative is an opportunity for synergy, integration, collaboration and harmonious coexistence to unite people and nature beyond geographical and sectoral boundaries.
